Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance of Northwest Connecticut

A support group for those with mood disorders, and friends and family, in northwestern Connecticut
Filed under General

Welcome to the DBSA of Northwest Connecticut! We are an anonymous support group for people with mood disorders, and their families and friends, in the northwest corner of Connecticut, USA.

Note: While we have professional advisors, we are a peer support group. As such, pages in this site should not take the place of professional advice from your doctor, therapist, or other credentialed mental-health provider.

Our support group meets every Thursday night (rain or shine, holidays included!), in the Small Dining Room (next to the Cafeteria) at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington CT, 7–9 pm. (Need directions?) Everyone whose life is affected by depression or bipolar disorder (manic-depression) is invited!

We rarely cancel our meetings, and then only because of extreme weather conditions. Any cancellations will be announced on WZBG-FM (97.3 MHz in the Litchfield county area).

See our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information on our support group.

Special Information

Once a month — usually on the 3rd Thursday — we invite a speaker. Generally, these are professionals in the field of psychiatry, medicine, or counseling, such as neuropsychopharmacologists (whew!), social workers, authors, grief counselors, nutrition experts, etc. See our Speaker Schedule to find out what’s coming up.
